The research carried out in the Colombias sugarcane agroindustrial sector by the Sugarcane Research Center of Colombia Cenicaña has the objective of improve the crop yield in the country. Good fertilization rates can be related to good productivity by the crop, therefore, nutritional elements estimations, as nitrogen, phosphorus or potassium estimations, are needed in order to provide the appropriate nutritional rate to the sugarcane crop. The use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems RPAS, together with multispectral cameras, has allowed the acquisition of high spatial resolution images and images with spectral information in and outside the visible spectrum, generating an alternative and nondestructive technological approach to estimate nutritional elements while monitoring sugarcane crops. The objective of this paper was to evaluate the relationship between five vegetation indices derived from a modified camera that allows spectral information in the red edge and ten nutritional elements (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, copper, zinc and boron) measured in the foliage of 18 plots of a sugarcane crop experiment with the variety CC 93-4418. The best relationships were obtained between the vegetation indices and two of the primary macro-nutrients: phosphorus and potassium, one of the secondary macro-nutrients: magnesium and one of the micro-nutrients: zinc.
